My Story
I am a board certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner(PMHNP) validated by American Nurse Credentialing Center( ANCC). I am trained to diagnose and prescribe medications for patients with mental health condition as well as brief psychotherapy. Before becoming a PMHNP, I was always showing special interest in psychiatry while working in various setting including nursing home, home health, hospitals. I was passionate about helping patient with mental health condition during my clinical rotations especially when my co workers were reluctant. I gradually realized that psychiatry was my passion. After graduating as a registered nurse I immediately seek employment in a Psychiatric Hospital where I worked for 5-6 years. I became dedicated in changing stigmatization surrounding mental health. I also realized that access to healthcare for mental health patients can be limited. Patients have to wait for up to six months to see a provider or days to have a hospital bed. I decided to pursue a high degree to provide a higher level of care while creating a positive impact on mental health. I feel fulfilled knowing that my patients can smile again. I work together with the patient to develop a treatment plan that is specific to them. I ensure that my patient came out of an encounter feeling understood, valued and empowered. I provide tools that allows patient to cope with daily stressors while walking their journey with them. My goal is to be empowered towards advocating for patients with mental health conditions and for them to have easy access to care. Outside of work, I spends time with family and friends. For self-care, I dance Zumba twice a week and walk my dog everyday. ​
